What is Archaeology?
Archaeology is the study of people of the past. No we dont dig up Dinsoaurs, we dig up all the trash and the stuff that people leave behind. Sometimes that is just a few little artifacts sometimes its whole buildings. Archaeology has as many sub speacilitys as medical doctors do, but our subspeacilitys dont need a referal and we dont make nearly as much money. People have impacted every square inch of this planet and archaeologist study that.
Why is archaeology importat? Archaeology is imporant because as we study the past we dont always have a written or oral record of what thing where like. The written hisotrical record does not always address everything and to understand humans and to understanfd the past we must answer questions that might seem self evident to people then. Example, how do we make this item. It might seem obvious to you, so you dodnt record it. But will it be obvious to people 100 years from now, how about 500 years from now? I can tell you that people wont know and so we need archaeology.
